Biography
I am a first-semester NPTS student and graduate research assistant at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies. I recently graduated from Middlebury College with a bachelor’s degree in International & Global Studies with focuses in Arabic and environmental change.
Areas of interest
I focus on open-source intelligence, geopolitics, geospatial analysis, proliferation and terrorism financing, and other facets of financial crime.
Project description
My project examines how terrorist groups in Africa’s Sahel region leverage climate-driven natural resource scarcity to recruit and control civilian populations. I will use GIS to design numerous maps which visually convey the relationship between these intimately linked phenomena.
